"you're only necessary when you're useful...

when you're no longer useful, you're no longer necessary." - tracy morgan

the arguments for and against legalization could fill a fucking book. how will it affect the children? the economy? the budget? the gangs? the cartels? the users? the jails? while these are all valid concerns one in particular seems to be left out of the discussion entirely; THE CONNECT! not all connects are the gun toting thugs they're made out to be on tv nor are they all nathalie newman, nee nancy botwin. with a few exceptions, they are your average 20-something hourly slave looking for a little supplemental income and i really can't knock that hustle. most of my connects have even become friends and vice versa. unfortunately, if prop 19 passes i will stop conducting business with the weedman. it's a matter of convenience, not loyalty. too many times i've been skimped, lied to about potency, or flaked on altogether. these are things i won't have to deal with at the shop because the government runs a tight ship. when was the last time you bought a pack of smokes only to find 4 missing? or a bottle of hennessy that tasted more like that $6 shit they keep in a basket? NEVER! once weed is legal it will be subjected to a harsher standard of practice. that amateur night stuff won't fly anymore. now this may not be the sentiment of everyone, but i feel this perspective is widely shared. i guess connects could just slang at parties to minors, which runs the risk of a fat penalty if they're caught. but other than that what else can they really do? undercut prices? die off? become wholesalers? whatever they end up doing i wish them luck. i'll be taking my happy ass to the shop/cafe/whatever the fuck.
